Research

The Sino-UK Research Centre on Commercial Law, Economics and Business aims through external events, research projects and publications to stimulate research in various areas of law, economics and business with a focus on their interaction on those areas where law and business or economics operate very closely, inter alia: corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, banking law, insolvency law, competition law, financial regulation, law and economics, project finance, capital markets, derivatives, sovereign finance and others, complex commercial contracts, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, utilities’ regulation, securities.

The Centre aims to take an inter-disciplinary, cross-jurisdictional approach in adopting a comparative perspective discussing how UK and China converge or diverge in the interaction within these disciplines. The aim of the research conducted at the Centre is to look at these disciplines from a dynamic rather than static perspective, understand their evolution and assess their intertwined application in various areas of the UK/EU and the Chinese legal systems, economies and financial markets.

The Sino-UK Research Centre on Commercial Law, Economics and Business invites ideas that can constitute the basis of innovative and ground breaking research. We also consider funded research projects tailored to the funder's needs.

We purport to constitute a natural 'meeting' point of the two jurisdictional practices in the three disciplines by encouraging practitioners and academics to work in an interdisciplinary manner by focusing on the intersection of law, economics and finance, and providing a theoretical and empirical coverage and a thought-provoking analysis of the topics in the field from both, a policy and a market oriented approach.

Working Papers

The Sino-UK Research Centre on Commercial Law, Economics and Business has introduced an interdisciplinary working paper series and invites papers from practitioners and academics around the world.
